In a shocking incident, Bhavya Lakhani, a businessman from Ballygunge, met a tragic end at the hands of his business partner Anirban Gupta in the Nimta Thana area of Kolkata. Police sources reveal that a dispute during business discussions turned fatal when Lakhani was allegedly struck on the head with a wicket.

To conceal the crime, the Anirban wrapped Lakhani's body in plastic and submerged it in his houses' water tank, hurriedly constructing plaster around it. The local residents, noticing suspicious activities, reported the matter to Nimta police, setting off a joint investigation with Ballygunge police station.

Anirban Gupta and his associate Suman Das were arrested, and the police recovered blood-stained clothes from a nearby dumping ground. The gruesome details unfold in the investigation of Case No. 42/2024 under Sections 120B/365 IPC, originating from a kidnapping complaint filed by Mrs Lakhani at Ballygunge police station.
